Annual financial Check-up
Holidays are over, the Super Bowl is in the record books, time to focus on the new year. JCA advises the follow are reviewed.
1) Register for your online Social Security account. If you do not have a Social Security online account, please sign up for one here:
https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/. Sign in and review your SSA benefit statement every year to ensure your earnings history is accurate. Getting information for SSA is very difficult and time consuming and having them correct errors is difficult so do not wait until you or your family need to work with SSA. Even worse when you are dead. 😊
2) Review your annual credit bureau reports to ensure all information is up to date and accurate. This is where you can access the report (the official website): https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action. Ensure errors are disputed and corrected to ensure your report is correct. Some people have encountered issues with verification using DocuSign.
3) Reach out to your financial advisor about adding JCA to your trusted advisor list so we can receive your tax documents securely and directly from your advisor. JCA works with many advisors and most if not all should have a means to delivery of tax documents to CPA’s. Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Edward Jones, and Wells Fargo to name a few. If you would like JCA to assist you with adding us as a trusted advisor, please contact us and with your advisor’s contact information and we can reach out.
4) Now is a great time to update any of your passwords that are older than 6 months old. Fraud is on the uptick.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
